Duane Porter

Award-winning author Duane Porter started writing to help his daughter Karen with her art assignment. Their first collaboration was a picture book “The Best Ride.” Then Duane began writing novels for children, turning a life-long passion for chess into a teaching adventure “Charlie and the Chess Set.”

Duane traveled to Ireland to research his first Trilogy. This adventure follows eleven-year old Molly O’Malley as she discovers her Irish roots, a leprechaun, and magical complications. Journey with her in “Molly O’Malley and the Leprechaun,” “Molly O’Malley: Rise of the Changeling,” and “Molly O’Malley and the Pirate Queen.”

Duane lives in Blue Springs, Missouri, with his wife, daughter, his mother-in-law, a dog, and fifteen chess sets.

  2. Mr. Porter, just wanted to share with you that the kids loved Molly O’Malley and the Pirate Queen. They are now going back and re-reading the other books in the trilogy.

  3. I am at work and not much is going on… it’s a Sunday… I am glad that it’s not busy and all. Well, I did the Halloween thing and I ended up first getting placed in a nursing home. Then I looked at everything else. :)

  5. My 8 years old son Bono and I came to Ireland from Croatia for a visit, and took “Molly O’Malley and the Leprechaun” at the Dublin Library. We both enjoyed it tremendously, and are looking forward to our trip to Kinvara in Galway even more now! We hope to visit the places you wrote so charmingly about in your book! My son is asking me to bye other books about Molly to bring them home! Thank you! Iva
